Adult DBT Intensive Programs: Serving NY, NJ, & CT

Intensive DBT Programs for Adults
Sometimes, you get to a point where weekly therapy just doesn't feel like enough. You feel stuck in a painful cycle, and you know you need something more focused, more powerful, to really break free. It’s not about a lack of effort; it's about needing a different kind of opportunity to make a change.
Our intensive programs for adults are designed for exactly those moments. They are short-term, focused, and immersive experiences created to help you build momentum and make significant progress in a condensed period of time.
What Does "Intensive" Actually Mean?
It's a good question. An intensive program isn't just more therapy; it's a different way of doing therapy.
Think of it like a language immersion course versus a weekly class. Instead of touching on skills once a week, you're living and breathing them in a structured, supportive environment for a set period. This approach is designed to accelerate learning, build momentum, and help you integrate new, healthy patterns into your life much more quickly. It's a commitment, for sure. But the goal is to create a powerful reset that can lead to lasting change.

Our Intensive Programs for Adults
We offer focused programs designed to help you jumpstart your healing
and build a strong foundation of skills in a short amount of time.

Seasonal DBT Intensives (Summer & Winter)
This is our cornerstone intensive experience. In just seven weeks, you’ll take a deep dive into all four core DBT skills modules in a hybrid format of in-person and virtual sessions. It's an accelerated, immersive program designed for adults who are ready to do the focused work to build a life that feels more balanced and in their control.
We are always thinking about new ways to support our community. From time to time, we may offer other specialized intensive programs for adults. If you're looking for a focused treatment experience but the seasonal DBT intensive doesn't seem like the right fit, we encourage you to reach out. Let's talk about what you need.
Why Choose an Intensive Program?
Deciding between weekly therapy and an intensive program is a big choice.
People often find an intensive program is the right fit when they need to:
Build Momentum, Fast.
When you feel truly stuck, a concentrated, powerful push can be the very thing that helps you break out of a long-standing pattern.
Immerse Yourself in the Skills.
The focused format helps the skills become second nature more quickly. You're not just learning them; you're applying them in a structured way, day after day.
Create a Structured Reset.
When life feels chaotic, the high level of structure in an intensive program can feel incredibly grounding. It provides a safe and predictable container to do difficult but important work.

Ready to Make a Change?
An intensive program is a significant commitment of your time, energy, and resources. We get that. But the impact can be life-changing. It’s an opportunity to pause, focus inward, and equip yourself with the tools you need to move forward differently.
If you feel ready for a focused, powerful shift in your life, we're here to talk about whether an intensive program is the right next step for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main difference between outpatient therapy and an intensive program?
That's a great question. The biggest difference is the pacing. Outpatient therapy is designed to be a consistent, steady part of your weekly routine, usually with one session per week. It allows you to integrate skills over a longer period. An intensive program is more like a focused, short-term immersion course, designed to help you make significant progress in just a few weeks.
I'm struggling, but I'm not sure which type of therapy is right for me. Can you help?
Absolutely. You don't have to have it figured out on your own—that's what we're here for. The first step is an initial consultation where we'll talk about what's going on. This conversation helps us recommend the best fit. Generally speaking, DBT is excellent for emotion dysregulation, CBT is great for anxiety and depression, and our trauma therapies are for healing from past events, but we'll find the right path together.
Do you offer virtual therapy for adults in NY, NJ, or CT?
Yes, we do. We offer telehealth services across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Many of our clinicians also offer in-person sessions at our offices in NYC and NJ. We work with you to find a format that feels comfortable and works for your schedule.
How does payment work since you are an "out-of-network" provider?
Being "out-of-network" means we don't bill insurance companies directly. You pay for your session at the time of service, and we provide you with a detailed invoice, often called a "superbill." You can then submit this to your insurance company for any out-of-network reimbursement you may be eligible for under your plan. We always recommend you talk to your insurance provider first to understand your benefits.
What is the first step to enroll in an intensive program?
Getting started is a straightforward process. It begins when you request a consultation through our website or by phone. Our intake team will then have a brief chat with you to make sure the intensive program seems like a good fit for your needs. After that, you’ll have a full intake session with a therapist to establish your goals before joining the next available seasonal cohort.
What are the benefits of an intensive program compared to weekly therapy?
That's a key question, as the right fit depends on your needs. While weekly therapy offers a steady pace for gradual progress, an intensive program is designed for accelerated change. Its focused, immersive structure helps you build momentum faster to break out of long-standing patterns, and because you are practicing skills daily, they become second nature much more quickly. Ultimately, when life feels chaotic, the predictability and high level of support provide a structured reset—a safe container to do focused, life-changing work.
