Metro NY DBT Center offers seasonal 7-Week Hybrid DBT Intensives for adults each summer and winter. These accelerated programs are a unique opportunity for individuals seeking to make significant progress in a structured, supportive, and immersive therapeutic environment.
Our DBT intensive programs are designed to help you master the skills of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, build healthier coping mechanisms, and create a life you experience as truly worth living.
Is an Intensive Program Right for You?
Our program is designed for adults (18+) who are ready to make meaningful change. It is an ideal fit if you are struggling with:
Emotion dysregulation, including intense or unstable moods.
Anger management difficulties.
Anxiety and mood instability.
Impulsive or self-destructive behaviors.
Chronic interpersonal conflicts and relationship difficulties.
Symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
This program provides an opportunity to build a strong foundation of skills in a concentrated timeframe, perfect for those looking to jumpstart their recovery or deepen their existing understanding of DBT.
This accelerated course is structured to deliver tangible skills for navigating complex emotional and relational landscapes. Participation is especially beneficial for those looking to work on issues, such as:
Intense Emotions: Gaining skills to better manage overwhelming feelings, mood swings, and persistent anger or anxiety.
Impulsive Behaviors: Learning effective strategies to tolerate distress and resist urges to engage in actions you later regret.
Unstable Relationships: Developing tools for clear communication, setting healthy boundaries, and navigating interpersonal conflict.
Feeling Disconnected: Cultivating mindfulness to move away from "autopilot" and find a greater sense of control and presence in your own life.

What is an Intensive DBT Program?
Our seasonal intensives are accelerated versions of our standard comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program. Over seven weeks, participants will be immersed in the four core DBT skills modules: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.
The intensive format allows for a deeper, more concentrated learning experience, helping you to quickly integrate and apply these life-changing skills with the consistent support of our expert DBT clinicians. The goal is to provide you with the tools, structure, and momentum to create significant, positive change.

Frequently Asked Questions About the DBT Intensive
I would like to continue with my current therapist outside of Metro. Can I still participate in the Intensive DBT program?
We ask clients to pause treatment with outside providers if they wish to participate in the Intensive DBT Program at Metro. We work closely on a team, which we have found to lead to increased progress towards treatment goals. All clients participating in Intensive DBT treatment will pause with outside therapists for the duration of the 7-week program.
Can I join if I’ve never done DBT before?
Yes, absolutely. Our intensives are an ideal starting point for individuals new to Dialectical Behavior Therapy. The program is specifically designed to build a strong foundation from the ground up, teaching all four core skills modules in a structured, supportive way. No prior experience is necessary, as our expert clinicians will provide all the guidance you need to jumpstart your recovery.
What are the benefits of an intensive program versus weekly therapy?
An intensive program allows you to learn and practice skills at an accelerated pace within a highly supportive environment. The frequency of sessions helps build momentum quickly, leading to significant progress in a shorter amount of time. It's an immersive experience designed to create a strong foundation for ongoing recovery.
Will I really learn all the DBT skills in just 7 weeks?
Yes, our structured curriculum is designed to cover all four core DBT skills modules within the 7-week timeframe. The immersive nature of attending group sessions and meeting individually reinforces learning and helps you integrate the skills rapidly.
