LCSW Substance Use Program Coordinator
Nicholas Urban, LCSW is a Psychotherapist, DBT Skills Trainer, and Program Coordinator for Substance Use Disorders at Metro NY DBT Center. Based in New York since 2009, Nick has worked in the areas of substance use research, community mental health, outreach, supportive and transitional housing, non-profit management, program development, and psychotherapy over the past 17 years. He trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at Columbia University School of Social Work, earning a Masters of Science in Social Work in 2014. Prior to joining Metro NY DBT Center, he was a Senior Director at Breaking Ground, a non-profit provider of housing and street outreach, and worked in substance use research at Columbia University Medical Center and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Nick has experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and currently focuses on DBT and DBT for Substance Use Disorders at Metro NY DBT Center’s Manhattan and New Jersey offices.
